Estonian drum and bass duo HeadRead`s released their debut album Aquasky today.
With the release of their debut album, HeadRead celebrates its tenth year of activity. Released digitally on November 24, the album consists of twelve tracks, including nine previously unreleased songs, featuring ELLIP and rapper Põhjamaade Hirm.
On December 16, a 12" colored vinyl record featuring four carefully selected tracks will also be released. The album and vinyl launch party will take place at Paavli Kultuurivabrik in collaboration with the popular radio show and event series Tjuun In.
Aquasky offers listeners a unique journey from dark industrial beats to soft minimalist music. The entire album reflects the duo's versatile approach to the drum and bass genre and has something for everyone.
"The album title 'Aquasky' was ultimately chosen based on our personal hobbies. Slammin enjoys underwater diving, so the Aqua world is part of him," explains Mikk. "Planeet voluntarily jumps out of planes (with a parachute), so the Sky world is part of him. Together, this creates a pleasant symbiotic combination: Aquasky," adds Slammin.
“We are excited to share our passion and creativity through the Aquasky album. This album is the culmination of a 10-year journey, and we can’t wait to see how our music inspires audiences,” says Planeet.
“Some of the songs on the album are very old, 6-7 years old, but most of the album was completed in the last couple of years,” says Slammin.
HeadRead is a joint music project launched in the summer of 2014 by drum and bass producers Planeet (Mikk) and Slammin (Roland), resulting in wall-to-wall drum and bass music with various cultural and musical influences. The duo's very first EP, titled "Timmy," was released in early 2015 by renowned Estonian DJ and producer Thing on his label Depthwise Music, followed by EPs and singles on such renowned labels as Ram Records, Program, DSCI4, Kos.Mos. Music, Absys Records, Delta9 Recordings, Through Sounds, Probe Recordings, and KLDR.
